Local Pickup for Customers

Times are changing and so is Squarespace. We’ve just been invited for early access of a new feature, called Local Pickup. Although Squarepaste does not sell physical products, we had to write a blog post to let you guys know.

“What is Local Pickup?” You might ask…

Local Pickup is a shipping option now available during the checkout process. Customers can place their orders online and select this new option, giving you proper notification of a pickup order. This option is completely free to both you as a website owner and the customer.

Now, for the exciting part! If you happen to not have a physical business location, do not fret. This Local Pickup option allows you to set the address or Pickup Location. You can also add Special Instructions, like telling your customers to bring a screenshot of their order or requesting that they stand in a circle instead of a line. The opportunities are endless.

“But, I have a side business at home.” Awesome, you can sell your products online and set your Pickup Location at a public market for a safe handoff.

“I already have a restaurant and use food ordering apps.” Even better, now you can provide an experience on your own website that is similar to Uber Eats or Grubhub, with a seamless checkout and pickup option.

Overall, we’re very excited about this new option and will be paying close attention to any possible plugins that can be made to enhance the experience. Yay!
