We've got some big news for anyone who has installed a Squarepaste plugin, or is still circling the buy button. Every single one of our plugins is now completely self-contained. The code you copy and paste lives entirely on your own Squarespace site, with nothing phoning home to us.
What changed
In the old days, some plugins leaned on a little external script, hosted either on our domain or over on Google Cloud Storage. It did the job, but it also meant your site was quietly depending on someone else's servers showing up to work every day. If that hosting ever sneezed, your plugin could catch a cold. Not ideal.
That's over. When you configure a plugin and paste it in, you now get the whole thing. Every line of code it needs, baked right into the snippet. No loader, no external script, no late-night calls out to anyone else's servers.
Why it matters
It boils down to one simple promise: your plugins will keep working, basically forever. Once the code is on your page, it's yours. It doesn't matter what happens to our domain, our hosting, or our mood on any given Tuesday. Your site keeps humming along exactly like it did the day you installed it.
A few happy side effects:
- No surprise breakage. Nothing on your site can break because of something on our end.
- Snappier loading. There's no extra trip out to an external script, because the code is already sitting right there on the page.
- Total ownership. What you paste is what you own. Read it, keep it, frame it on the wall, back it up like any other part of your site.
Do I need to do anything?
For new installs, nope, not a thing. Every fresh install is self-contained automatically. If you have an older install from before this change and want the new version, just reach out to us and we'll send you an updated copy to paste over the old one.
This is the kind of peace of mind we want every Squarepaste customer to have. Paste it once, forget it forever, go enjoy your weekend.
