Delete or archive a project

When a client project wraps up, you can archive it or delete it. Only deleting frees its spot on your plan, so if your client list changes often, delete finished projects to make room for new ones.

Delete or archive

Archive: Hide It, Keep Everything

Archiving closes a project but keeps all of it: the chat, tasks, files and payments stay in your reporting, and the project moves to the Archived tab on Projects. The widget comes off your client's site.

An archived project still counts toward your plan's project limit.

  1. Open the project and go to the Actions tab
  2. Click End this project
  3. Click "Archive project", then "Yes, archive it"

Delete: Remove It and Free the Spot

Deleting removes the project for good: its conversation, every task, the files your client shared, and the widget on their site. Its spot on your plan opens right away, so you can add a new client.

  1. Open the project and go to the Actions tab
  2. Click Delete project
  3. Type the project's name to confirm, then delete it

Deleting can't be undone.

Keep a Copy First

Before you delete a project, export its chat: in the Actions tab, click Chat transcript, then "Export chat transcript". Download any files you want to keep, too.

How Your Limit Is Counted

Your plan's limit counts the projects in your account right now, active or archived: 5 on Link, 25 on Connect and Lifetime Access, and unlimited on Atlas. Deleted projects don't count, so a finished client never uses up a spot for good.

Tip: Archive a project you may come back to, and delete one you're done with for good. If you're at your limit, deleting an old project is all it takes to add a new one – no upgrade needed.
