Share files and media
Squarepaste lets you share files, links and voice notes with clients right in the chat. This makes it easy to exchange project files, images, documents and other assets, and to find them again later.
Sharing Files from Your Dashboard
To share a file with a client:
- Open the project in your Squarepaste dashboard and go to the Chat tab
- Click the paperclip ("Attach a file") in the message box
- Select the file you want to share from your device
- The file will upload and appear in the chat
- Your client will see it in the Squarepaste widget and on the project's chat page
Receiving Files from Clients
Clients can also share files with you, from the Squarepaste widget or the project's chat page:
- They click the paperclip ("Attach a file")
- They select one or more files from their device
- The files upload and appear in the project's chat in your dashboard
- You can download or view each file directly from the chat
Voice Notes
Click the microphone ("Record a voice note") to record a voice note and send it in the chat. Voice notes can be up to 10MB.
Supported File Types
In the Squarepaste widget, clients can send:
- Images (JPG, PNG, GIF, and other image formats)
- Documents (PDF, DOC, DOCX, TXT)
- Archive files (ZIP, RAR)
From your dashboard and the chat page, any file type can be sent. Maximum file size is 10MB per file.
File Storage
All shared files are stored securely and remain in the chat where they were sent:
- Files are stored securely in the cloud
- Every file and link shared in a project's chat is collected in its Files tab, in the widget and on the project page
- Files are kept by project, making it easy to find project assets
Tip: File sharing through Squarepaste keeps all project-related files in one place, making it easy to track what's been shared and when. This is especially useful for managing multiple client projects across different Squarespace sites.
